Here are four highlights from the already busy career of young French rapper duo Bigflo & Oli, who will take the stage at the Videotron Center on Saturday, a day after their performance at the Bell Centre.
Team up with a cinema legend
In 2016, the duo from Toulouse teamed up with actor Jean Dujardin for the soundtrack of the film “Brice 3”. In the video clip for the song “Pour un pote” we see Bigflo and Oli in their convertible climbing into the car, who was the first Frenchman to win the Oscar for best actor of the year, while he is driving through a small country road in his Brice de Nice costume strolls.
Holy Knights of the Order of Arts and Letters
In 2017, the French government highlighted the two rappers’ contribution to the country’s art and literature by declaring them knights. This award, given to artists who stand out for their work and influence – in France and internationally – was given to Bigflo & Oli for their song “Je suis”, released in 2015. This title denounced the state of the social situation in France at the time, which gave rise to religion, poverty, racism and homophobia.
Your own festival
Tired of seeing major festivals in every major city in France except Toulouse, Bigflo & Oli brought the Rose Festival to the world. The event, which took place for the second time this year, in addition to promoting electronic music, also welcomed big names from the French-speaking hip-hop scene such as SCH and Caballero & JeanJass.
30,000 tickets sold in one day
Admirers of the rapper tandem were eagerly awaiting the release of their latest album, “The Others is Us,” due out in June 2022. When the first part of their tour was announced, 30,000 seats were sold within a day, and the project exceeded 25,000 sales in just 72 hours.
