Bella Hadid joins sister Gigi in donating her Fashion Week earnings to help Ukraine… as she calls runway walks ‘weird’ during the conflict.
Bella Hadid, along with her sister Gigi Hadid, will donate their proceeds from Fashion Week 2022 to help Ukraine.
The supermodel siblings were inspired by 29-year-old runway beauty Mika Argañaraz, who called on her industry peers to donate the money they make from showings to organizations offering help to the war-torn country.
Bella, 25, donned an oversized t-shirt with the colors of the Ukrainian flag to show her support in a photo posted to Instagram earlier this week.
She captioned the image: “Watching my Ukrainian friends and colleagues hard at work here in Europe, so close yet so far away from their families/friends/homes in Ukraine who are experiencing one of the many brutal occupations and invasions going on right now in the world. a very emotional and humiliating experience for me.”
Help in time of war: Supermodel Bella Hadid is following in the footsteps of her sister Gigi and will donate a portion of her fashion week income to help Ukraine, saying interacting with other models and behind-the-scenes staff “has really shown me the strength and resilience of the people around me who are going through pure horror” ‘
“We rarely control our work schedules, and this week has really shown me the strength and perseverance of people around me who are experiencing real horror.”
“Hearing their stories and emotions firsthand is devastating and I support them wholeheartedly. I stand by the side of every person affected by this war and the innocent people who[sic] lives forever changed at the hands of “power”.
The former Model of the Year added: “Following Mika and my amazing sister, I will be donating all my proceeds from this Fashion Week directly to organizations that provide aid, shelter and medical care to those in need locally in Ukraine. and continue to support our Palestinian people and land.”
Sister Sister: The former Model of the Year said her sister Gigi and fellow model Mika Argañaraz inspired her to donate her fashion week earnings to help Ukraine during the war.
Trying to help: Gigi is the first supermodel sibling to announce her charitable donations. The 26-year-old runway veteran will also donate a portion of Fashion Week proceeds to Palestinian charities.
Bella has already shown her support for Mick’s donation initiative by posting, “You said it @micaarganaraz.”
“We have many Ukrainian friends, colleagues, models, producers, castings, and to see the lack of communication/knowledge about the war… so close, very, very sad. It’s incredibly strange to be in fashion shows as part of our job, especially at a time like this.
“I force people in our industry to do research and openly discuss the hell that is going on in the neighborhood.”
Activity is inherited: Bella Hadid and her family have long supported pro-Palestinian ideas. Their father, Mohmed, spent most of his youth as a refugee.
Gigi has previously confirmed that she is donating all of her Fashion Week earnings to Ukraine and Palestine. The models’ father, Mohamed, is an Arab Palestinian who spent part of his youth as a refugee.
She wrote on Instagram: “The established schedule for Fashion Month means that my colleagues and I often introduce new fashion collections at heartbreaking and traumatic times in history. We don’t have control over most of our work schedules, but we’d like to go “for something”.
“Following in the footsteps of my friend @micarganaraz, I pledge to donate my show proceeds in the fall of 2022 to help those suffering from the war in Ukraine, as well as continue to support those suffering the same in Palestine. Our eyes and hearts must be open to any human injustice.”
First step: Argentinean beauty Mika Argañaras is in action. The 26-year-old supermodel was the first to announce that her runway donation efforts would be donated to help Ukraine.
In February, Mika announced: “I must say, it is very strange to walk through fashion shows, knowing that there is a war going on in the same continent. “I will donate part of my earnings this fashion week to help Ukrainian organizations.”
The Argentine beauty encouraged others to do the same.
“To my exemplary friends and colleagues, and to anyone else who is also struggling with this feeling, perhaps this is something we could all contribute to.”
First step: Gigi was the first of the Hadid siblings to announce that she would donate a portion of her Fashion Week earnings to help Ukraine, saying she and her followers would love to “go after something” seen here in 2020.
