With one of the largest viewerships in television history, it’s no surprise that “Yellowstone” has some celebrity fans who love to watch the Paramount Network drama to see what the Duttons are up to.
And it turns out Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are among them.
When Affleck appeared on The Bill Simmons Podcast with Matt Damon on Wednesday to promote their new movie Air, he opened up about his and his wife’s TV habits and said she’s a big fan of the show, in particular by two of his characters.
“I’m kind of concerned that my wife really likes ‘Yellowstone,'” Affleck joked.
The actor-director explained that Lopez — whom he married in June 2022 after rekindling their romance nearly two decades after their original split — “was really drawn to the romance between Cole Hauser and the woman who plays his wife.” .
In the show, Hauser plays titular ranch foreman Rip Wheeler, while Kelly Reilly portrays Beth Dutton, protagonist John Dutton’s (Kevin Costner) only daughter.
Throughout the drama’s five seasons, viewers have seen — with the help of flashbacks — how the couple’s 20-year on-off relationship unfolded, culminating in their impromptu marriage in the fourth-season finale.
Affleck went on to say that Reilly was “excellent” in the role of Beth and had no idea the actor was British as she portrayed the character so well.

“Jen showed me a clip of her on Instagram, the monologue she has in the car about getting rich,” Affleck said. “And then she said, ‘I love this story of these two.'”
“I thought, ‘Wait a minute? With Cole? With Hauser? What do you love about it?’” he said as Simmons and Damon laughed.
Damon and Affleck — whose friendship with Hauser goes back a long way, as all three appeared in School Ties (1992) — said they always thought Hauser would be more successful than them.
All three later appeared together in Good Will Hunting (1997), while Affleck and Hauser co-appeared in Dazed and Confused (1993).
“To tell the truth, I was always confused that Cole wasn’t a huge movie star,” Damon said, adding that even at 16 he had “pure raw talent.”
Affleck agreed, praising Hauser’s portrayal of Rip in Yellowstone, saying, “He’s very compelling as this guy. I think America thinks he’s Rip. He is perfect.”
It also turns out that Affleck and Damon also have a history with the main character of “Yellowstone.”
The two, who met in middle school, both appeared as uncredited extras in the Fenway Park scene in Field of Dreams (1989), in which Costner played a farmer who had a baseball field in his cornfield behind his house builds.
