Ben Platt wasn’t a big fan of being quizzed about nepotism and apparently recently dropped out of an interview with Rolling Stone while discussing his new comedy called Theater Camp.

The 29-year-old Tony winner, who is currently engaged to Booksmart actor Noah Galvin, also 29, both took on starring roles and co-wrote the latest project, which officially hits theaters on Friday July 14 came.

At one point during the Rolling Stone interview, also released Friday, the interviewer mentioned New York Magazine’s 2022 Nepo Baby cover, which starred various stars including Ben, the son of film producer Marc Platt .

He is known for being behind films such as The Little Mermaid (2023), Legally Blonde (2001) and the upcoming live-action Wicked, starring Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Jonathan Bailey and Michelle Yeoh.

When asked what his “reaction” to the cover is and what he made “of this whole discourse,” Ben promptly ended the topic by saying, “We’ll skip that if we can.”

Dailymail.com has reached out to Ben’s rep for comment.

Not a fan: Ben Platt, 29, wasn’t a big fan of being quizzed about nepotism and apparently recently dropped out of an interview with Rolling Stone while discussing his new comedy called ‘Theater Camp’; Seen in NYC earlier this month Previous Cover: Sometime during the Rolling Stone interview, also published on Friday, the interviewer mentioned New York Magazine’s 2022 Nepo Baby cover, which featured various stars including Ben, who is the son of film producer Marc Platt

According to the outlet, Platt’s publicist suddenly stepped in to keep the focus on just Theater Camp.

After a few more questions unrelated to nepotism, his publicist chimed in again to end what was only half the interview.

Just before he did the cover of New York Magazine 2022, which was published in late December last year, the interviewer asked Ben how he grew up with “parents in the industry” and how it affected his own “career aspirations.”

The Broadway actor replied, “I would say this movie is more about the fact that my siblings all did musical theater at Adderley School.” And when I was old enough, I just wanted to be like them, and I did looked up to everyone.”

His older brother Jonah Platt is also an actor in the industry and has starred in projects such as Being The Ricardos (2021).

The Pitch Perfect graduate also revealed that his parents “gave us an opportunity to pursue anything we wanted to pursue,” adding, “I think I had an opportunity that a lot of people don’t have, which is that I could be bitten.” by a theater bug. They let me try what I wanted to try.’

“The fact that I was in a family where we listened to show music in the car and all my siblings also loved musical theater and we bonded through that was a cool thing and not something to be ashamed of.”

Ben added, “I feel like I owe a lot to that upbringing, and obviously musical theater is what led me to my potential husband.” I certainly owe a lot to the openness and artistic freedom that existed in my household.”

An abrupt end: after a few more non-nepotism questions, his publicist chimed in again to end what was only half the interview; to be seen in NYC in June. Successful film producer: Marc Platt is known for being behind films such as ‘The Little Mermaid’ (2023), Legally Blonde (2001) and the upcoming live-action adaptation ‘Wicked’, starring Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Jonathan Bailey and Michelle Yeoh; seen in May

During the interview, Ben also had a chance to talk about the comedic film Theater Camp, which hits theaters on Friday.

The film not only stars Platt, but also Molly Gordon, his fiancé Noah Galvin, Jimmy Tatro, Ayo Edebiri and Patti Harrison.

The premise follows: “The eccentric staff of a seedy theater camp in upstate New York must join forces with the beloved founder’s sidekick son to keep the camp afloat,” reads an official IMDB synopsis.

Ben co-wrote the screenplay with Noah and Molly Gordon and Nick Lieberman, both of whom also directed the film. At its most recent release, Theater Camp currently has a 75% viewer rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, he revealed that some parts of the film were actually completely “improvised,” although he couldn’t say exactly how much of that was improvisational.

‘It’s difficult to say. There’s a lot of improvisation that was definitely very outlined. And every scene, if not written, was at least so that the directions were very clear,” explained the Emmy Award winner.

“And there was a list of all the jokes, from bigger bibles and lists, and it was just the ones that worked.” But most of all the lessons and some of the more free-form sections in the film are entirely improvised.”

The last question asked before the interview abruptly ended was about Ben’s wedding plans to his fiancé, Noah Galvin. The two were confirmed to be dating in 2020 and they got engaged in November 2022 last year.

“We focus on the big things and then try to fly the flag out wide enough that we can take a little breather,” Platt revealed.

“I think we love being able to call each other fiancés and of course you only get that once.” So I don’t think there’s any rush.’

He added, “But we’re going to focus on a time and place and have all the discussions about Jewish mothers that come with having a huge Jewish family and figuring out what our version of it is going to be like.”

Latest Project: During the interview, Ben also had the opportunity to talk about the comedic film Theater Camp, which hits theaters on Friday; seen in Anaheim in January Upcoming Wedding: The last question asked before the interview abruptly ended was about Ben’s wedding plans to his fiancé, Noah Galvin.
