Ben Stiller, Mark Hamill and more stars come to Martin Short’s defense after a commenter called the Emmy winner “exhausting, sweaty and completely unfunny.”

The Slate commentary, titled “Why We Keep Putting Up With Martin Short,” criticized Short’s career as a comedian, describing his roles as “over-the-top characters” that were “incredibly annoying.”

After the article was published on Friday, many of Short’s colleagues took to social media to publicly praise the Only Murders in the Building actor. “Saturday Night Live” colleague Ben Stiller wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter): “Martin Short is a comedic genius. End of story.”

Mark Hamill, the original Luke Skywalker from the Star Wars franchise, put together a collage of some of Short’s comedic characters throughout his career and wrote: “Hard to believe that people actually debate whether Martin Short is funny or not not.” Newsflash: He’s hilarious. #ComicGenius.”
