Despite the start of the championship, the problems continue broadcasting rights between some clubs and the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF). So much so that seven teams signed a document refusing to take part in League 1 2023 until the precautionary measure was lifted and an agreement reached over TV rights. However, two clubs had changed their minds and would finally show up for their games.
This was reported by Gustavo Peralta, a journalist from Líbero, on the sports program “Campeonísimo”. According to the specification, Sport Boys and Deportivo Municipal would follow Universitario’s example and present themselves. Both do not think it is right to influence the sporting aspect and would end up participating in their respective games.
The journalist pointed out that at Sport Boys they don’t think about losing by walkover as it would be detrimental as there would be three points at stake. He even said that the technical director of the Rosé team, Guillermo Sanguinetti, received the indication to prepare the starting team for the clash with Unión Comercio this Monday, February 6, at the Alberto Gallardo Stadium.

Last Friday, February 3rd, Cusco FC failed to show up to play Sport Huancayo at Garcilaso de la Vega Stadium in Cusco and became the first team to lose by bye.
The second Peruvian club to lose in the same way was Melgar this Saturday, 4. Rojinegro failed to show up at the Bernal Municipal Stadium in Piura to face Atlético Grau.
It should be noted that Cusco FC and Melgar are among the 7 teams that signed a document and refused to participate in League 1 due to television rights issues.
