“Creating this album has given me a place to dream and escape at a scary time in the world. It allowed me to feel free and adventurous at a time when otherwise little was happening,” she explained.

Beyonce added, “My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgement. A place to be free from perfectionism and overthinking. A place to scream, let go, feel freedom. It was a wonderful journey of discovery.”

She ended by writing, “I hope you enjoy this music. I hope it inspires you to release the wobble. Ha! And to feel as unique, strong and sexy as you are.”

Renaissance’s first single, Break My Soul, was previously released on June 20.

The hitmaker collaborated with several artists including Big Freedia and her husband Jay-Z to produce the track.

The song has since received widespread critical acclaim from many music critics.

Beyonce first teased that she was working on new music during an interview with Harper’s Bazaar last August.

During the meeting with the media, the Drunk In Love singer revealed that her recording process was particularly arduous.

“I’ve been in the studio for a year and a half. Sometimes it takes me a year to personally sift through thousands of sounds to find just the right kick or snare,” she said.

Beyonce then confirmed that she still loves making music and is happy to be working on new material.

She said: “After 31 years it feels just as exciting as it did when I was nine. Yes, the music is coming!’

The much-anticipated record, which was due to be released at midnight Thursday, can be found online, according to Variety, and CDs are already being sold in Europe.

The album was leaked on Wednesday.
