She shone several times in front of the camera, but Bianca Gervais also spent very happy moments in front of the television, be it alone or with the family. For them, the small screen has long been synonymous with happiness.
Bianca, which children’s programs influenced you?
I was part of the Canal Famille generation and that of Vrak.TV. I even did the official voices for Vrak.TV with Frédéric Pierre. This year I am celebrating my 30th professional anniversary […] My memories are strongly anchored in these two posts and in some soap operas I watched with my mother.
Were there any appointments of your own?
It was “The 100 Watt Club” that made me want to do television because there were lip sync days on Fridays and I didn’t understand why young people my age were on television and I wasn’t. For me it was a deep injustice […] I also come from the Bibi and Geneviève generation. I sent out 12,000 drawings only to realize that my mother, who was in the juice with me and my twin sisters, kept them all on top of the fridge. She didn’t send any, but my God, I felt hopeful every time Bibi drew a drawing… Bibi also contributed to my love of television.

Do many of your fondest TV memories have something to do with family?
Mega Fury, hosted by Véronique Cloutier. Archive photo
Yes! We live in a time where we heavily demonize screens and calculate screen time. That’s right. But in my “little ass” life, the screens were very positive, like when we listened to The Fury as a family, when I felt like my parents were having as much fun as I was and I was enjoying watching them how they had fun. Or when I listened to Chambres en ville with my mother. It was a women’s date between my mother and me. I felt big. It was part of my emancipation.

Would you say you’ve been watching too much TV?
All in all, it made me an imaginative and relatively well-adjusted person… I can’t say it was too much, because it contributed to some great memories. When we worry and calculate the minutes our children watch TV during the day, I point to my Sunday mornings that made me happy.
Does the artist you have become owe something to a character or actress?
To Marina Orsini. I’m a little girl from Ville-Émard, like Marina. His family lived in the alley across from my house. One day I wished that Marina would come to my party. She had grown fond of my mother, and she came and gave me a signed photo from the set of Caleb’s Daughters. I still have the photo at home. She also gave me In a Banana Garden hair conditioner, which I kept for years even though I don’t like bananas. Marina, a little girl from our home, showed me that it was possible.
