Biden and the US classifieds, a cause of national controversy

Democratic Representative Adam Schiff reiterated that Congress could not rule out the possibility that handling the materials, the details of which are now being investigated by the Department of Justice (DOJ), could endanger national security.

I don’t think we can rule out the possibility without more facts. “I’d like to know what those documents were, I’d like to know what the special counsel’s assessment is,” Schiff told ABC News.

The discovery of Biden’s secret documents in unauthorized locations puts Democrats in the middle of a political conundrum that has slammed former President Donald Trump (2017-2021) for months for his handling of similar files, analysts warn.

Observers point out that the differences stem from the fact that while the current Oval Office occupant showed a willingness to cooperate with the relevant authorities from the outset, the tycoon resisted the handover of the papers, leading to a search of his property in March led-a-Lake, Florida.

However, the emergence of two dozen old materials in the President’s hands undermines the credibility and strength of any investigation Democrats plan to pursue against Trump for this reason, and dwarfs the scenario for a new Biden candidacy as we look forward to 2024, they warn .

The incumbent President is currently facing an investigation conducted by the DOJ, for which the country’s Attorney General Merrick Garland has appointed Attorney Robert Hur as Special Counsel.

The materials were first discovered on Nov. 6 in an office Biden used after serving in the Barack Obama administration (2009-2017), an event reported by the President’s attorneys to the National Archives and the Justice Department.

Although new documents were found in the Delaware presidential home garage and residence in late 2022, the public did not learn of this information until it was released by NBC News a few days ago.

The third of the finds came last week, bringing the number of secret texts discovered to nearly two dozen.

According to a report by NBC News, one of the sheets has been marked as top secret/sensitive compartmentalized information, the US government’s top classification.

TV channel CNN reported that in addition to personal papers, intelligence memorandums and others with data on Ukraine, Iran and the United Kingdom were found.
