President Biden called Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Sunday to discuss continued United States support for Ukraine, the White House said in a statement.
A readout from the White House call said Mr. Biden and Zelenskyy “discussed Ukraine’s ongoing counteroffensive, and President Biden reiterated US steadfast support, including through continued security, economic and humanitarian assistance.”
The two heads of state and government also discussed “recent events” in Russia, the statement said, without going into detail.

The conversation took place after Yevgeny Prigozhin, the leader of the Wagner mercenary group, ordered his troops to march on Moscow and threatened to overthrow Russia’s military leadership. According to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, the planned revolt ended when Prigozhin agreed to a deal to stop the march and bring his troops to Belarus. As part of the deal, Wagner troops would not be prosecuted and criminal proceedings against Prigozhin would be dropped, Peskov said.

Zelenskyy described his conversation with Biden on Twitter as “positive and inspiring”.
“We discussed the course of hostilities and the processes in Russia. The world must put pressure on Russia until international order is restored,” said Zelenskyy.
Zelenskyy also spoke with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Polish President Andrzej Duda on Sunday, he said.
