Biden and Zelenskyy will hold a bilateral meeting this Sunday during the G7 summit in Japan (G1).

US President Joe Biden is set to meet Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelenskyy this Sunday (21) for a bilateral meeting during the G7 summit in Hiroshima, Japan.

A US administration official told a TV station that Biden “will continue to reaffirm the United States’ firm and resolute support for Ukraine.” According to him, the White House also hopes that China will become more involved in the discussions and cooperate in order for Russia to withdraw from Ukrainian territory.

The G7 is attended by the heads of state and government of the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Canada and Japan. Other countries have been invited to the Hiroshima meeting, including Brazil, Australia, India, Indonesia and South Korea.

White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan also said Saturday that Biden wanted to meet with Lula to discuss the war in Ukraine.

G7 calls on China to put pressure on Russia

“We call on China to put pressure on Russia to end military aggression and withdraw its troops from Ukraine unconditionally and immediately,” it said.

“China expresses its strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition and files an official complaint with Japan, the summit’s host country, and the other parties involved,” he added.
