Washington-. The President of the United States, Joe Biden, today expressed his concern about the political violence the country is experiencing and called for an end to it ahead of the upcoming 2024 election.

As the Democratic president also said at a graduation ceremony at Howard University, white supremacism is the most dangerous “terrorist threat” to national security in that capital.

Hope is “overshadowed” by fear, violence and hatred, he noted, explaining that hope can still prevail when people rise up to resist these forces.

His thoughts tie in with the ongoing investigation into the racial motives behind the attacker who opened fire at a mall in Allen, Texas last week, killing eight people.

Biden acknowledged that racism has “torn the United States for a long time” and that it is a battle “that never ends.”

The speech by the resident of the University Center’s Oval Office — an educational facility that traditionally educates African-American students — provided a campaign ploy of sorts for his re-election next year.

His main rival is his Republican predecessor, Donald Trump, whom he blamed for the level of political violence in the US.

For Biden, this type of violence was “encouraged” by Trump and the most extremist members of the Republican Party, who instigated the attack on the federal capitol on January 6, 2021.
