The @BidenHQ account chose as an illustration a “meme”, a viral image on the Internet that shows the American president in the form of a cartoon superhero with red laser vision. This avatar is known to his followers as “Dark Brandon.”
“Good. Let’s see what this brings. Converts are welcome!” writes the 80-year-old Democrat’s campaign team on the platform of the former president, now the big favorite in the 2024 Republican primaries.
The following messages echo criticism of Donald Trump made by two other candidates in the Republican primaries: Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley.
“We joined Truth Social primarily because we thought it would be a lot of fun,” explains Joe Biden’s campaign team, this time via his account on the X Network (formerly Twitter).
Launched in early 2021, Truth Social was pitched by Donald Trump as an alternative to Twitter, which he used extensively and from which he was banned following the attack on the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
The former president has now found his accounts on Twitter, now X and purchased by Elon Musk, as well as on Facebook, from which he was also banned.
