According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the phenomenon will bring “new waves of extreme precipitation”. Roads and fields were flooded with water and power lines were damaged. Also according to the NWS, the Salinas region is on alert for “catastrophic flooding”. The town is an important agricultural area in south San Francisco. The agency urged residents to stay alert and exercise their “common sense” “over the next 24 to 48 hours.” As of 8 a.m. this Sunday, 15,000 to 16,000 homes were without power, according to the PowerOutage website. Tens of thousands have been ordered to evacuate, the NWS reported.
