The NGO “SOS Orinoco” denounces the invasion of Brazilian miners in Yanomami areas
The organization showed what is happening to the Yanomami people. In summary, the Brazilians have joined the Chavistas in destroying their reserves. In a video posted to its Twitter account, the organization used satellite imagery to show “the invasion of Venezuelan territory currently taking place by the Brazilian garimpeiros at the headwaters of the Orinoco, the third largest river in the world and home to the ancestral Yanomami people.
“The Venezuelan army is asking for money to let in Brazilians who are using indigenous Venezuelans as quasi-slave labor,” the organization denounced. “It is outrageous to see the media showing Maduro pretending to end illegal mining in Yapacana and other national parks in the Amazon, but one only has to look at the satellites to see how illegal mining continues to increase.”

The revelation comes from the newspaper El País, which underscores how Qatar has taken on unexpected importance in mediating between the Biden government and the Maduro dictatorship. In addition to hosting this meeting, Qatar has actually sought mediation between the two countries that have reconciled with the arrival of Biden and Gonzalez in Washington. The meetings were kept secret until yesterday’s El País report so that no one could interfere in the dialogue between Washington and Caracas.
