President Joe Biden said his new immigration policy changes would make it easier for migrants to get to the US without going through “any jungle” to reach a place where they don’t even know the language.
He made the statement at a press conference at Mexico City’s Palacio Nacional at the end of the “Three Amigos” summit, after announcing new plans to allow 30,000 migrants a month from certain countries to enter the country legally and up to work two years to prevent illegal migration at the border.
“We’re trying to make it easier for people to come here … but not have them go through this goddamn process,” he said. Biden then described some of the brutalities of the long hikes of migrants trying to reach the US
The remarks came during a press conference that lasted more than an hour, during which Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador thanked him for not funding the continued construction of Donald Trump’s border wall – and then made an intricate description of drug trafficking and a likely statement alluding to the TV series Narcos. It was only after this monologue that Biden was able to make his first comments on the discovery of classified documents from his vice presidency in his former DC office.

Biden said new policies allowing migrants to apply online would make it easier for them to get to the United States
Of the incentives and travails of migration, Biden said, “It’s not like people are sitting in their hometown” saying, “Let’s sell everything we have, give it to a coyote, on a long trek through some jungles.” go to the united states .. let’s drop into some dessert, won’t this be fun in a country where you don’t even speak the language?’ said Biden.
That came after left-wing Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez praised Obrador Biden for stopping construction of Donald Trump’s border wall.
“You’re the first President of the United States in a very long time who didn’t build a three-foot wall. And for that we thank you, sir, he said.
He also said Bien’s new plan to grant parole to citizens of Venezuela, Nicaragua, Haiti and Cuba would go beyond that number — a possibility the White House didn’t rule out in a briefing this week.
“I understand that this plan will also be extended, expanded [to include] other migrants, other countries,” he said.
And Lopez Obrador congratulated Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Canada’s program, which will benefit 25,000 Mexicans with temporary work visas in Canada.
“This is a path we must follow, which is an orderly migration. Prime Minister Trudeau is a great ally of Mexico,” he said.
Lopez Obrador, known for giving lengthy news conferences daily and who once spoke at length in the Oval Office when he met Biden, blew up Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s move to ship migrants north of the border.
“One of the governors of our neighboring country … movement to take migrants to New York, to Washington and just drop them off there. This is politics. That’s totally inhuman. This should not be done because there are those who forget that we are all migrants,” he said.
And he insisted there was “no corruption” in his government, days after Mexican authorities arrested a powerful drug lord, Ovidio Guzman, the son of “El Chapo”.

Biden made his first visit to the border as president on Sunday
“There’s even a bunch of gangs and organized crime, organized crime gangs,” Lopez Obrador said, likely referring to the Netflix drama Narcos.
The leaders spoke after their meeting at the Palacio Nacional in the heart of Mexico City
“There is no corruption in our administration, the government I represent,” he said.
“We painted that line, it’s very clear,” he continued. “There is no criminal organization or partnership like before.”
“There’s even a bunch of gangs and organized crime, organized crime gangs,” Lopez Obrador said, likely referring to the Netflix drama Narcos.
He said that the protagonists in these series had “very rich homes”. Very luxurious houses. And the cars. Men, women, all very handsome, very handsome men and women, all dressed in jewelry,” he said, drawing laughter from the crowd of dignitaries and the press.
“They pick up the phone and call the police chief, the military chief, or even the president of a country. And it’s being spread everywhere,” he complained.
Biden also referenced his three-hour visit to the border in El Paso Sunday, his first trip to the border as president.
He said he went to “see the situation with my own eyes.”
“It’s taking a huge toll on communities in both Mexico and the United States,” he said. He said the new policy, which includes Mexico accepting 30,000 migrants sent back by the US each month, “upholds the laws of our nations and protects the human rights of migrants who find themselves in desperate straits.”
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made his own remarks, talking about the benefits of free trade while avoiding being pinned on whether Canada would attempt to field a military force in Haiti amid the chaos there.
He spoke English and French again after Biden said he wished he had studied more in college after hearing Trudeau speak French on Monday.
“Thank you, merci, gracias,” he said at the end of his speech.
