President Joe Biden will move from its Build Better Back plan to a new four-item economic agenda during its speech on the state of the Union on Tuesday night.
The focus will be on supporting the economic recovery against a record high level inflation where the Americans face rising prices for food, gas and rent.
“The American people will hear a lot about how they will reduce their costs, how they will build, continue to build a strong economy in the long run,” the White House spokesman said. Jen Psaki said Monday in a preview of his statements.
In his address to Congress, Biden will call for housing, education and climate reform under a four-point plan focusing on “doing more in America”; reduction of daily expenses; “Promoting fair competition”; and “removing barriers to well-paid jobs,” according to a report from the administration.
Many of his ideas will reflect those in Build Back Better, its approximately $ 2 trillion social services bill that was killed by Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin, who said he would not support it because of the price.
But the name of his signed legislation may not appear.
“It’s not about the name of the bill,” a senior administration official said Monday during a briefing with reporters. “It’s about ideas. It’s about cutting costs for families.

But the White House will not say whether Biden will wear a face mask when he enters the hall on Tuesday to walk down the aisle to the podium, where he will speak.
“Well, he certainly won’t wear a mask when he speaks. I still haven’t talked to him about whether he will wear a mask when he walks on the path, “Psaki said.
She noted that the White House will not require face masks for staff from Tuesday, a call that came after the CDC’s new guidelines on face coatings and as Washington DC saw that the number of cases was declining. The Capitol doctor said over the weekend that face masks were no longer needed on Capitol Hill, including on the night of Biden’s speech, when the hall will be packed with MPs.
All members of Congress are eligible to attend this year, unlike the 200 who were in Biden’s joint address to Congress in April 2021. However, no lawmaker will be allowed to bring a guest.
Six of the nine Supreme Court judges are also expected to attend, after only one was invited to a speech in April. About 20 cabinet officials are scheduled to attend. First Lady Jill Biden’s lodge can accommodate up to eight guests, said a planner The Washington Post.
And over the weekend, a temporary metal fence was erected around the Capitol as an additional security measure.

As Russia’s invasion of Ukraine dominates the news, Biden will try to focus on his domestic agenda as his rating of approval falls amid record high inflation.
“He will talk about the progress we have made over the past year in the face of deep challenges and will speak of his optimism for the future,” the official said of the president’s address.
And he will pay special attention to inflation.
“The president will absolutely use the word inflation tomorrow and he will talk about inflation in his speech, of course, this is a huge problem in the minds of Americans,” Psaki said.
Biden’s speech comes amid a new report from Goldman Sachs that the United States inflation will be even worse this year than expected, after Federal ReserveThe measurement of primary inflation in the country has reached its highest level in 40 years.
The Personal Consumer Price Index (PCE) rose 6.1 percent in January from a year earlier, the biggest annual increase since February 1982, according to federal data released Friday.
Goldman Sachs predicts that PCE inflation will remain high throughout the year before falling to 3.7% by the end of 2022, economists from the Wall Street giant wrote in a customer report on Sunday, which was seen by CNN Business.
