Kiss completed the final performance of their farewell End Of The Road tour on December 2nd at Madison Square Garden in New York and announced that they would continue in the form of digital avatars.
In a new interview with Classic Album Review's Barry Robinson, Saxon frontman Biff Byford was asked his opinion on the matter.
In the video (available below), he says, among other things: “I don’t think they should do that. I think it works for ABBA because ABBA hasn't been around for many years, and ABBA is pop, it's not rock. But if there are people who want to see them do an Avatar show, that’s great.”
He adds: “I haven’t seen the ABBA album. I was told it was absolutely fantastic. But [cela a coûté] Millions and millions to develop this project. And they built their own event hall. I don't know if Kiss plans to do that. I think it probably works better when it’s in a place that’s designed and equipped for that rather than on tour.”
The Kiss avatars were created by Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) and financed and produced by Swedish company Pophouse Entertainment, which is behind the hit show ABBA Voyage.
On the other hand, Saxon will release their 24th studio album, Hell, Fire And Damnation, on January 19, 2024 via Silver Lining Music.
Hell, Fire And Damnation is billed as “an album in which Saxon explores all areas of history and mystery through ten of her strongest and most powerful songs to date.”
Produced by Andy Sneap (Judas Priest, Exodus, Accept, etc.) and Byford, with Sneap on mixing and mastering, Hell, Fire And Damnation sits on the perfect line between modern power and the glorious irreverence of Saxon's New Wave of British Heavy Metal is the co-creator.
