Pierre-Yves Lord has a big TV fall ahead of him. A really big autumn. Still grieving the loss of his mother, Monique, who passed away this summer, he is busy doing as much as he can with what he loves most – hosting, exchanging ideas, making music – with the idea of being the woman who raised him has to make you proud.
“It was a difficult time and it still haunts me. Grief cannot be resolved in a few weeks. At the same time, trying to make my mother proud nourishes me, it becomes a driving force. She didn’t want me to cry all day so I indulge in my projects,” he told QMI Agency.
Despite his schedule as Prime Minister, PY tries to care for his father and support him in his own grief.
The 44-year-old presenter and producer is, like Christian Bégin, Normand Brathwaite and Marie-Soleil Michon, an essential figure at Télé-Québec. He left Deux hommes en or and Rosalie, but remains a loyal fan of Quebec’s public broadcaster.

From Friday September 15th he will direct the new variety event Plaza Plaisir. Every week, accompanied by the Valaire Group – their resident orchestra – and three guests who are treated to a “creative playground,” all of these beautiful people will sing, jam, and get into the party spirit. As an experienced DJ, PY will appear on the turntables in addition to short interviews.
“We’re setting up a party and putting cameras there. When people show up at the Plaza exit on Rue Saint-Hubert, they are truly witnessing a show where the energy doesn’t let up. “The vibrations are high, the decibels are pretty loud and we are in a place where we are doomed to dance,” said the man who describes himself as a “musical matchmaker.”
“I set the table so that artists that I love, that fascinate me and that have aroused my curiosity, can express all their talent.”

PY is also producing Luka et Léo, a new show in which comedian Luka Lemay and multidisciplinary artist Éléonore Lagacé will try to answer young people’s questions.
He is also working on the program “From Memory to the Heart,” which will allow us to dust off archives at the Bibliothèque et Archives Nationaux du Québec to tell the story in song, music and even dance.

“I work a lot on the Gemini texts. As with all my projects, we work surgically and pay attention to the details. It doesn’t make me sick, but there is a kind of obsession and determination in my work. That doesn’t stop me from having time for my family – my children are 11 and 13 – and taking care of myself.”
Still at ICI Télé, he will host the game 100 Genies again this season.
