Warning: This article contains spoilers for the Big Brother season 25 finale.
It was the longest season in Big Brother history. But it’s finally over. After 100 days locked up in a make-believe house, a winner from the CBS reality series’ 25th season finally emerged victorious in Thursday’s two-hour live finale.
Jag Bains, Matt Klotz and Bowie Jane formed an alliance called the Mafia and then set out to destroy every single name on their hit list, including competitive beasts like Cameron Hardin, strategic threats like Cory Wurtenberger and reality TV legends like Cirie Fields. After ousting Felicia Cannon on Sunday’s live eviction episode, it was time to compete to take the final two chairs and present their case to the jury.

The first part of the final three-part Head of Household competition was an endurance challenge that required players to sit on large bubbles and be thrown against a haunted house while simultaneously being dipped in scrambled eggs and sprayed with colored paint. (If you’ve never seen “Big Brother,” the previous sentence most likely makes no sense. If you have seen “Big Brother,” it makes absolutely no sense.)
Bowie Jane was the first to go down, leading to an endurance battle between Matt and Jag. With no end in sight and the competition approaching the three-hour mark, the Minutemen decided to settle the matter with a game of rock, paper, scissors. When Matt chose Rock and Jag chose Scissors, the latter fell and Matt won Part 1 of the final HOH and automatically advanced to Part Three.
This meant that Jag and Bowie Jane had to compete in the second part – a competition where they had to put all of the entire season’s competitions in the correct order and in the correct universe (again, it’s a BB thing). Even after delivering what he called “the worst performance of all time,” Jag easily defeated Bowie Jane and went on to face Matt again in the third installment – with the winner reserving a spot in the finale and getting to decide who is up next, with $750,000 at stake.

In the third part, Matt and Jag had to separate fact from fiction in statements from and about their castmates. Since the duo were tied, there was a tiebreaker question, which Jag won, securing a spot in front of the jury. Would Jag stick with his greatest ally in the game and risk losing to Matt’s superior social game, or take the almost guaranteed win against Bowie Jane, who was considered a floater and follower in the game?
As he stood in front of both, Jag made his choice: “Ultimately I have to do what I think is right and make the decision that I hope my family will be proud of, the decision that I hope my Sikh community will be proud of .”, and the decision that I hope you’re proud of too, Bowie Jane. When I sit next to Matt and lose 6 to 1, I just pray that that one vote comes from you, Bowie Jane. I have to take it Matt to the final two and I have to vote to evict you, Bowie Jane.
Although it appeared that Jag’s decision had cost him $750,000, Matt ran afoul of the jury as he failed to leverage the strengths of his game in terms of moves he could claim over saving him Jag came out clearly when he was voted out unanimously. Jag, on the other hand, came out strong and proclaimed, “My hands are covered in your blood. I am the most dominant, masterful and strategic player in this house.”
In the end, the judges agreed, rewarding Jag’s competition and strategic skills over Matt’s social game and giving him the win with a 5-2 vote. It was the end of a tumultuous season, but in the end Jag – who was the first Sikh player in franchise history – also became the first Sikh winner, racing his way to and making it to $750,000 left the house just minutes before it was hit by another time laser.
