A Big Brother star has revealed she threw away more than $100,000 on alcohol for over ten years before overcoming her crippling alcohol addiction.
Jules Rangihuea, who broke into the Big Brother house as an “intruder” last year, says she was spending more than $200 a week on alcohol from the age of 18 before becoming sober in early 2023.
The 29-year-old podcaster shares the challenges of her newfound sobriety on her own TikTok account – Recovering Party Girl.
Her inspirational stories have attracted more than 198,000 likes and 9.3 thousand followers.
“I’ve always been known as the party animal and the bender queen,” Jules explained in an interview with News.com.au.

“I was celebrated for those qualities, it became my whole personality. I’ve even had strangers walk up to me and say, “I heard you’re having a blast on the p**s”.
“It honestly got to a point where I felt like that was all I was known for … I didn’t even know if I knew who I was without alcohol.”
Jules said drinking was part of the culture of growing up in Perth, which she describes as a “coastal party town”.
She said the lifestyle has “normalized” heavy drinking, including midweek parties followed by “drinking all weekend.”

Sober since the beginning of the new year, Jules said sobriety has been a big challenge, but giving up alcohol has made her happy.
