Big Brother Australia star Farmer Dave Graham has announced his engagement to boyfriend Shazli after dating for less than a year.
The farmer-turned-dog-trainer, who appeared on the reality show for the reboot in 2006 and 2022, announced the good news on Wednesday, telling Woman’s Day magazine he can’t wait to celebrate a “big outback wedding.” to have.
Dave, 41, met Pakistani-born Shazli in a Sydney pub in early 2022 and fell in love with his good looks and gentlemanly manners.

“I thought I hit the jackpot,” enthused Dave, once nicknamed “the gay cowboy” by his Big Brother roommates.
The couple had a string of successful dates before their romance was cut short when Dave returned to Big Brother in October for the 2022 reboot season.
While at Big Brother’s house, Dave realized he wanted to take the next step in his relationship.

Just two weeks after being kicked off the show, Dave proposed to Shazli during a romantic trip to Lord Howe Island.
Discussing their wedding plans, Dave said he hopes to incorporate Pakistani culture into the ceremony, but clarified that Shazil’s family will not be attending.
‘Shazli came to Australia as a refugee due to the persecution of homosexuals and forced marriages in the family in his home country. Unfortunately, he won’t have any family at the wedding,” Dave explained.

Dave is the father of three donor children – the mothers of Dave’s children are all friends of the former reality star, including two straight women and a lesbian.

Elsewhere, Dave shared a heartwarming tribute to Shazil on Instagram on Wednesday, writing, “After a lifetime of searching I am absolutely and completely in love with the kindest, calmest, most decent hard working guy who balances me perfectly.”
“I was the guy who was told a thousand times when you least expected it was going to happen… and it happened!”
Dave was one of Australia’s first openly gay “Big Brother” contestants, appearing on the show back in 2006.

In an interview about his love life in 2019, Dave said that fatherhood and his busy schedule negated the need for a husband.
“We have this amazing family where I’m an integral part of their life and that takes away the need to chase a husband,” he told The Daily Telegraph.
“But you never know, I’m still one of those guys that’s looking and hoping and waiting (for the one).”
