The New Jersey Devils rewarded their head coach Lindy Ruff for coaching success by giving him a multi-year contract extension on Wednesday.
The value of the new deal was not disclosed by the organization. Ruff joined the Devils in 2020-21 and led his team to second place in the National Hockey League’s Metropolitan Division last season. The club collected 52 wins and 112 points, achieving a streak of 13 wins. He also defeated the New York Rangers in the first round of the playoffs.

“This young and exciting team has grown and motivated under Lindy’s leadership since his arrival,” franchise minority owner David Blitzer said in a statement. He is one of the winningest drivers in league history and this extension is well-deserved. I expect the club to achieve success next year and beyond.”
“I’m really excited to be here and I couldn’t be prouder of our team’s great growth over the last year,” the coach added. We have a special group and there is an opportunity to achieve a lot in the long term by creating lots of positive memories and giving our fans something to applaud; Our fan base is one of the best in the world and deserves winners.”
Normally, his previous contract with the 63-year-old would have ended at the end of the 2023-2024 season. As coach of the Devils, he had a record of 98-98-24. Previously, the former player led the Buffalo Sabers and Dallas Stars, collecting 834 wins in 1,713 games.
