BIGBANG's G-Dragon recently shared a handwritten letter during a press conference about his future activities.
On December 21, G-Dragon's agency Galaxy Corporation held a press conference to explain and outline G-Dragon's drug-related case after he was cleared of all suspicion. At the press conference, Galaxy Corporation officially announced that they have signed an exclusive contract with G-Dragon and that he will make a comeback in 2024.
At the press conference, director Jo Sung Hae of Galaxy Corporation shared, “Originally, Kwon Ji Yong (real name of G-Dragon) planned to personally greet all reporters and fans in the New Year. However, after the drug investigation was completed, there were many confusing reports and to clarify this, we hastily decided to hold a press conference the day before. We therefore ask for your understanding that this was difficult [for Kwon Ji Yong to attend] and adjust his schedule.”
Instead, Oh Hee Young, director of Galaxy Corporation, read out the handwritten letter that G-Dragon had written for the press conference. He wrote the following:
This is Kwon Ji Yong.
This time I wanted to greet everyone personally and discuss with them, so I'm very sad that I wasn't able to do that.
I've been thinking a lot about the stories we tell and how we can welcome everyone in the new year. As you all know, I went through a difficult time, but the people around me expressed their concerns and gave me a lot of encouragement so that I was able to overcome it [this hardship] So. Thanks to all.
As this incident passed, I saw a place I had not seen before. While watching the news, I learned that there are an average of 20,000 illegal drug users each year and that the number of juvenile drug offenders has increased dramatically. I also learned the painful truth that out of these 20,000 people, not even 500 people per year can be treated in these treatment facilities.
That's why it occurred to me that I had to take action. For the sake of the vulnerable and defenseless and those who do not know that they are taking the wrong path, I plan to actively work towards the eradication and eradication of drugs. I would like to share the opportunity with many people who have not been given the opportunity to receive treatment. In addition, I want to act as a system to protect those who, as an older brother, sibling or peer, do not have the strength by their side, so that the unfair events that weak people experience do not happen again.
I decided to set up a foundation to pursue this activity seriously and continuously.
The Foundation will stand with those harmed and hurt by our world's prejudices and injustice, and we hope to create a society in which all live together, treated equally and fairly respected.
Through music and artistic activities enjoyed by artist Kwon Ji Yong and his fans, we will solve societal problems such as drug control, inequality and injustice, and while we create opportunities by supporting artists who have not had this opportunity, I plan to to educate future generations who did not have this opportunity will do the same work as me.
If the foundation lays the foundation for these activities, we can carry out campaigns for peace and unbiased campaigns for the earth with many great artists and fans who empathize with the meaningful activity and I think we can have a dream of a world without Creating prejudices that are in harmony with diversity.
So Kown Ji Yong plans to launch in 2024. I will take all my responsibilities and make a comeback, and I will take responsibility as an artist and also take social responsibility. I hope that everyone assumes their respective responsibilities in their role.
I believe the world changes when thoughts and feelings like these come together to take action. It was a very eventful year for me too.
The reason I was able to organize everything so well is because I am not alone and it occurred to me to never give up and draw more strength since we are together all over the world. I would like to express this gratitude to the VIP fan club who protected me with love and treated it as their own issue from beginning to end. I didn't lose strength and I wasn't lonely. As I am grateful to everyone, I would like to make even more efforts to make the world a better place through music and of course as an artist.
After establishing this foundation, I would like to make the first donation on behalf of everyone.
This momentous launch with my new partner Galaxy Corporation was made possible by YG, who made me who I am today. I have spent a long period of over 20 years as a trainee, as a BIGBANG and as a solo artist, and the numerous achievements I have achieved through great efforts were thanks to the whole family I was with at YG. I will forever remember this in my heart as I continue my activities.

In addition to the letter, Galaxy Corporation stated that G-Dragon suffered greatly due to various malicious rumors. However, according to G-Dragon's wishes, Galaxy Corporation will give those who posted malicious comments an opportunity to correct their wrongdoing. On December 20, YG Entertainment officially announced that they would be parting ways with G-Dragon and wished him all the best in his new beginning.
