According to the report of the state-owned International Maritime University of Panama (UMIP), this is the goal of the latest cooperation protocol signed in this capital between the two companies.
The signing of the agreement took place during the sessions of the First Latin American Merchant Shipping Industry Summit (Lammis, to follow in English), the aim of which was to integrate the entire value chain in the country related to cargo handling and disposal.
Speaking on behalf of the Autonomous Community’s representation, Ricardo Barkala explained that it is a question of considering development, research, innovation, training and new technology projects and, above all, of understanding the rapid progress of changes in the maritime world.
That way, he added, grantees could go to the port of Bilbao, or people from the port could visit Channel Country.
Barkala also noted that Bilbao is one of the top four ports in Spain, along with Algeciras, Valencia and Barcelona.
For his part, the rector of UMIP, Víctor Luna, explained that the intention of the agreement is to promote exchanges with a partner that is a pioneer in the fields of environmental protection, greenhouse effect and decarbonization.
