Bill Simmons had the perfect answer to Jalen Green

Bill Simmons had the perfect answer to Jalen Green

1. As I wrote earlier, when Bill Simmons’ “F— Jalen Green” line became a big thing online, very few people wanted to make any connection with it.

Simmons did not say “F — Jalen Green” to the person on an episode of his Ringer podcast. He said “F—Jalen Green” as a candidate for the all-rookie team. It wasn’t a personal attack. It was also meant as a joke and not seriously. I also explained all of this in a recent edition of the SI Media Podcast with Ryen Russillo.

But that is how it has now been portrayed by everyone who has written about it. It was sold simply as “Bill Simmons Says F— Jalen Green”.

Unsurprisingly, Green Wind got Simmons’ comment and addressed him Wednesday night after he was named to the NBA’s all-rookie team.

Now, it’s impossible to tell from this tweet whether Green addressed Simmons by saying “F— Jalen Green” or addressed the fact that he made the all-rookie team when Simmons said he didn’t deserved. Or both.

Either way, Simmons provided the perfect answer. I know, for some unknown reason I can’t figure out, beating up Simmons and dumping on him whenever possible has become an online thing, but I give him credit for replying to Green and doing so honestly and done in a fair manner.

Some people are all upset about Simmons’ “fake news aggregators” line, but the truth is that the aggregators on the world wide web presented his commentary in a way that wasn’t truthful. Simmons’ answer was direct and fair.

I also love that Simmons didn’t apologize. In so many cases, people apologize just to apologize, even when they haven’t done anything wrong. It’s good to see Simmons didn’t go that route.

3. Steph Curry draining a three and dancing is a beautiful thing.

4. Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley had a big argument last night about Jimmy Butler and whether it’s harder to score against big defensive players. At one point, Barkley Shaq even dropped a “fool,” and it was hilarious.

5. Two great things about this fan walking onto the field during Wednesday night’s Braves Brewers game in Milwaukee. First, keep an eye on Atlanta helper Kenley Jansen, who doesn’t even bat an eyelid as the fan passes him. Just incredible discipline. Second, how about this guy’s audacity in trying to get a high five from Jace Peterson at home before he’s taken out.

6. Following today’s battle of words between Nick Saban and Jimbo Fisher, CBS will make Texas A&M-Alabama a prime-time game on October 8th.

7. RANDOM VIDEO OF THE DAY: It’s amazing how well this has worked.
