First, Buffalo Bills fans threw snow in the air after their team’s first touchdown. That was fun.
Then the fans started throwing snowballs at the Miami Dolphins players. And then the officials had a dilemma. In a game close to the goal line, snowballs rained down mid-game as Tyreek Hill attempted to catch a pass in the end zone. A snowball hit a television camera near the field.
Although everyone is joking on social media, it’s obviously dangerous for anyone on the field or at the field level. A warning was displayed on the video board at the stadium, reminding fans not to throw snow.
After Bill’s running back Nyheim Hines scored a touchdown and more snowballs flew onto the field in celebration, officials delayed the game. Referee Bill Vinovich announced that if fans continued to throw snowballs on the field, the Bills could be penalized with 15 yards.
There was snow in the Buffalo area ahead of Saturday night’s game and the stadium crew did a great job clearing the field. But it was a big challenge to clear the entire stadium of snow. That tempted the fans too much during the game.
