Billy Joel’s stunning 26-acre Long Island waterfront estate featuring a massive mansion hits the market

Legendary singer Billy Joel is moving out of his 26-acre Long Island waterfront estate hoping for a $49 million payday in the market.

Joel, 74, is selling the North Shore property in the Long Island suburb of Oyster Bay after paying $22.5 million for it in 2002.

He has recently expanded the properties he owns in what is known as Middlesea, attempting to restore the property to its original 1950s version.

The platinum-selling Piano Man briefly listed the property in 2006 for $37.5 million.

Bonnie Williamson, the broker for International Realty’s Daniel Gale Sotheby’s, said Joel and his wife Alexis Roderick have been spending more time in Florida recently, necessitating the sale.

The property features a 20,000-square-foot mansion, a floating doctor, and a beach house with multiple guest rooms.

There’s also a gatehouse, two outdoor pools – one of which Joel has more or less covered over to use as a music room – and even a helipad.

According to the Wall Street Journal, a children’s playroom is currently under renovation.

The main house also has everything from a spa to a hair salon to a bowling alley and wine cellar.

Williamson said the renovation and construction work should be completed by late summer or early fall.

“Whoever is buying wants to make their own decisions about how to paint, decorate and maybe design the kitchen,” she added, explaining why she’s selling in the middle of the renovation phase.

Joel’s Florida home is in the town of Lantana. He bought it in 2015 for $22 million.

He also reportedly owns a second Long Island property in Sag Harbor.

Even if they don’t sell at market price, Middlesea will likely be the most expensive home for sale in Oyster Bay, with the second highest asking price at $8.5 million, Zillow says.

But he is grappling with a slumping real estate market, according to expert Douglas Elliman, as Long Island luxury sales fell 34 percent in the first quarter compared to 2022.

A Long Island native, Joel has written enduring hits like Piano Man, Just the Way You Are, Only the Good Die Young, Movin’ Out (Anthony’s Song), Pressure, and Uptown Girls ‘ and ‘We didn’t fan the fire’.

He has sold over 150 million records and has been a resident of New York’s Madison Square Garden for the past nine years.

He will embark on a stadium tour in 2024 with fellow rock ‘n’ roll legend Stevie Nicks.
