  • Wildlife Warrior said her condition was not taken seriously
  • After a shock collapse, she was finally diagnosed with endometriosis
  • She underwent surgery earlier this year and surgeons found 37 lesions and one cyst on her ovary

Bindi Irwin has spoken about her battle with severe endometriosis and recalled how difficult it was getting doctors to take her condition seriously.

The 25-year-old wildlife warrior said she was living in excruciating pain, which was initially dismissed by medical professionals.

“I’ve been tested for everything. Any tropical disease, Lyme disease, cancer, you name it. “I’ve had every blood test and scan I could think of,” she told People magazine.

“You don’t know what’s going on with you, and then when people tell you, ‘It’s all in your head,’ or ‘Your hormones are there,’ or ‘Just have a cup of tea, lie down,’ then you feel you end up so desperately alone.’

Bindi said she even started doubting herself until she collapsed into the fetal position in August last year.

The fear eventually led to a test for intra-abdominal disorders, which revealed she had endometriosis.

Endometriosis is an often painful condition in which the tissue that lines the uterus also grows outside the uterus.

“After years of doctors and different people telling you there’s nothing, you really start to believe it.” “You end up in this weird space of self-doubt, fear, and insecurity,” she said.

Earlier this year, Irwin successfully underwent surgery for the disease, during which surgeons found 37 lesions and a cyst on her ovary, which were removed and given her a new life.

“I feel like I have a second chance at life, I feel brand new.” “It’s not like a light switch, but every week I feel like I can do a little bit more,” she said.

Back in May, Bindi offered fans an update on her decades-long battle with endometriosis, assuring them she was fine following surgery.

The reality star hosted a question and answer session on Instagram and was quizzed by her followers about her battle with the debilitating condition.

Bindi then said she even started to doubt herself until she collapsed into the fetal position in August last year, which led to her eventually undergoing a test for intra-abdominal disorders which revealed she had endometriosis

She was happy to report that she was finally feeling better after a long, hard journey.

“It’s been a very long road and many challenges to get to this point. I am very grateful to be on the other side of the excision surgery. “I can officially say I’m finally feeling better,” she said.

Bindi went on to say that she has lived in constant pain for years and only started looking for answers after the birth of her daughter Grace Warrior in 2021.

Meanwhile, Bindi received huge support after speaking out about her horrific decades-long battle with the disease.
