Blackhawks: not very encouraging signs for Samuel Savoie

The horrific injury that Samuel Savoie suffered on Saturday evening has left its mark on the National Hockey League (NHL), and in his case the news wouldn’t be particularly good.

The Chicago Blackhawks confirmed Sunday morning that the forward had suffered a lower-body injury and remained under observation at a hospital in Minnesota.

Savoie came into serious contact with the tape during the game against the Wild. As he tried to control defender Alex Goligoski, he instead stumbled and it was his legs that absorbed the blow.

The Gatineau Olympian couldn’t stand up on his own and let out loud cries of pain. Eventually he was carried away on a stretcher and gave a thumbs up saying everything was okay.

The 19-year-old was in Blackhawks training camp trying to get a job in the National League. The Dieppe, New Brunswick native was a third-round pick by the team in 2022.
