BLACKPINK’s Jisoo releases her own solo album following the record-breaking success of her group and bandmates
After much speculation, Jisoo from K-pop girl group BLACKPINK has headed into the recording studio to work on her long-awaited debut solo album.
It was confirmed this week by her record label YG Entertainment that the 28-year-old singer has followed her three bandmates in creating a solo project.
It comes after BLACKPINK released their second album Born Pink in September, which has sold over 2.5 million copies.

YG Entertainment released a statement this week acknowledging Jisoo’s ambitions to release her own solo album.
She had already planned the project but put her solo career on hold to pursue her acting ambitions.
Jisoo’s hard work paid off when she landed a role on hit K-drama Snowdrop in 2021.
Additionally, her other responsibilities include her newly appointed Ambassador for Cartier and her longstanding association with Dior.

“She’s finished filming the album cover and, as promised to her fans, has put a lot of work into her music,” said a spokesman for YG Entertainment.
Minimal details are still known about her passion project after Jennie became the first member of the group to release solo material when her first track “Solo” topped the charts in 2018.
