The extremely popular pop anthem Blinding lightsby Canadian The Weeknd, is the first member of a new select club, the song with 4 billion plays on Spotify.
Blinding Lights was released in November 2019 and was unfairly rejected in its Grammy eligibility year. In just over four years, it has reached this unprecedented peak.
Because good news never comes easy, The Weeknd also learned that he had broken his own record for monthly listeners on Spotify. It rose from 100 million in February 2023 to 113 million.
