Some last generation activists protested this evening in Santa Cecilia during the performance of Handel's Messiah directed by John Nelson. While one of them was filming the scene, three young people came onto the stage and sat next to the conductor's stand and the singers. The execution continued while room staff intervened to remove her, despite her passive resistance. The demonstrators wore T-shirts with various slogans: “Disaster Notes,” “The Show Cannot Go On,” “Repair Fund Now.”

The attack on the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome began at the time of Hallelujah. Three activists took the stage to raise “a cry of alarm”: “This is not a Christmas of joy,” humanity “has opened the gates of hell, as denounced by the UN Secretary General,” they said as they sat down at the table Feet of John Nelson, conductor.

Tied to the conductor's support with cable ties, the activists stood there next to the choir singers who continued to sing. The musicians continued playing until the end of the performance.

The audience then booed the activists. But then someone applauded. There was also a moment when one of the activists, while being led away, stopped on stage in front of the orchestra doors and started crying, whereupon a lady from the audience came up to comfort her.
