An employee at a Maxi grocery store in Montreal’s Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie neighborhood reportedly stabbed his own co-worker to death on Tuesday morning, inflicting serious injuries that raised fears for his life.
The bloody attack occurred at around 9:10 a.m. in the Maxi supermarket on Rue Masson, very close to Rue D’Iberville.
The motive for the altercation remains a mystery, but according to employees who met at the scene, the two men had a trivial argument over their work methods.

According to our information, one of the employees then attacked his colleague, a man in his fifties and father of two children, with a long knife.
The victim reportedly suffered multiple stab wounds and was hospitalized in critical condition. We would fear for our lives.

At least three employees then pounced on the suspect in an attempt to overpower him. The young man, believed to be in his mid-twenties, was injured during the events.
He was escorted from the grocery store by police with a bandage on his head and also taken to the hospital for treatment of relatively minor injuries.

A security fence was erected around the crime scene and the grocery store was closed so police could do their work.
There were customers in the store at the time of the attack.
Investigators and forensic identification technicians were expected to be on site in the morning to try to clarify the circumstances of the incident and collect evidence.
The Maxi’s surveillance cameras also had to be monitored during the day.
Grocery store employees who met at the scene said they were in a state of shock after this gruesome attack.
