The Toronto Blue Jays have signed free agent Chad Green to a two-year, $8.5 million deal with the New York Yankees for the first seven seasons of his major league baseball career.

According to the Sportsnet network, the package includes options for 2025 and 2026.

However, the 31-year-old gunman will have to wait before helping his new team as he is still recovering from Tommy John-type surgery he had in June. At best, he could therefore return to play in the second half of the regular season.

Green played 272 games with the Bronx Bombers, averaging a 33-22 record and a 3.17 ERA. Unfamiliar with the role of late-game specialist, he only made a save. On the Hill, the right-hander’s busiest year came in 2021, when he went 83 and two-thirds innings overall.
