Blue Jays: An exciting win to start the season

The Toronto Blue Jays put on quite a show in their regular season opener Thursday in St. Louis, beating the Cardinals 10-9.

Outfielder George Springer was stunning, hitting five hits in six shots. Bo Bichette and his four shots from safety were also critical to the Jays’ offensive success.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. produced the winning run by hitting a sacrificial fly, allowing Springer to cross the plate.

Then, after giving up at least one run in six of the first eight innings, the Jays closed the door in the ninth inning. In an unflattering duel for the pitchers, Jordan Romano frustrated the Cards with two strikeouts.

The Blue Jays and Cardinals meet again at Busch Stadium on Saturday and Sunday.
