Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette failed to complete Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Guardians.
The superstar exited the game in the fifth set of the game, which the Canadian club lost 11-7. The Jays announced that Bichette had injured her right quadriceps. Check out the highlights above.
The 25-year-old athlete had to miss his team’s training from July 31 to August 19 due to tendinitis in his right knee.
Bichette wasn’t the only member of the Blue Jays not to finish the game against the Guardians. Third baseman Matt Chapman was pulled out in the sixth inning because of an infection in one of his right fingers.
As for the game shown at the Rogers Centre, the visitors pulled off a four run push to victory in the 11th inning.
A brace from Kole Calhoun ended a 6-6 draw that had lasted since the end of the eighth period. His goal allowed Myles Straw and Jose Ramirez to enter the plate. Before their turn ended, the Guardians added two more runs with a bomb from Ramon Laureano.
The Blue Jays then closed the gap thanks to a sacrificial flight from Whit Merrifield. However, it was the only moment of celebration for the crowd favorite in these finals.
Guerrero awakens from his paralysis
Early in the game, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., George Springer and Davis Schneider threw the ball wide. It was also only the third home run for the son of Montreal Expos’ former glory since early August.
The defeat ended up in the account of substitute Jay Jackson (3-1), while Emmanuel Clase (2-7) secured the win.
The Blue Jays have been defeated in four of their last five games.
On Monday, they begin a three-game series against the Washington Nationals. You can watch this on TVA Sports from 7pm.
