BMAW/FFG: Innovate in a network 4 million euros for cooperation between business and science

The competition starts on December 1, 2023: COIN SME Innovation Networks 2023 and IraSME (33rd call)

Vienna (OTS) – The Federal Ministry of Labor and Economic Affairs (BMAW) is providing a total funding volume of a maximum of €4 million for the open-theme competitions COIN SME Innovation Networks 2023 and IraSME (33rd competition) that take place in parallel. The evaluation committee meetings are scheduled for the end of June 2024. The main objective of both lines of the program is to increase the innovative capacity and innovation production of small and medium-sized companies through the transfer of technology and knowledge in networks ( companies and research institutions).

The implementation of specific innovation projects (products, processes and services) is supported in national and international innovation networks with several consortium members (national: COIN PME innovation networks, international: IraSME – International Research Activities by SME). Processing is carried out by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency FFG.

Innovation Networks for SMEs COIN 2023:
The high participation of 608 consortia so far in the SME innovation network competitions shows that the program has proven itself. 180 network projects of companies and research institutions with a total funding volume of 65 million euros have so far been financed by BMAW.

IraSME (33rd call):
IraSME is an international network of ministries and funding agencies with national or regional funding programs to support cross-border cooperative research and development projects by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

For the first time, Innosuisse – the Swiss agency for the promotion of innovation – will participate in a competition from the IraSME network, whose members include Austria and Switzerland, as well as Belgium (Flanders and Wallonia), Brazil, Germany, Canada (Alberta), Luxembourg and the Czech Republic and Turkey count.

Austria’s regular participation in IraSME network competitions aims to lower the threshold for international cooperation for SMEs. To date, more than 197 consortia from Austria with international partners have participated in 23 IraSME tenders. 64 cross-border projects by companies and research institutions were financed by BMAW, totaling 20 million euros.
