Bob Saget’s family wants to “mourn in peace” — and fresh speculation about the actor’s death isn’t helping.
Brian H. Bieber, who represents the Saget family, told Yahoo Entertainment on Thursday, “The released records tell the whole story – that is – Bob died after a fall and banged his head in his hotel room. Now that the coroner is in and the police department records have been released following their respective thorough investigations, the Saget family would value their privacy so that they could grieve in peace.”
The police have closed the case and released a final report on their investigation. Among the documents they provided are a handful of interviews with people who were with Saget before his sudden death. The Full House star contracted COVID-19 weeks before his death, which he mentioned to staff at his stand-up comedy show on the night of Jan. 8.
“I heard him say, ‘I don’t feel good, but I’m ready to do the show. That’s why I’m doing it.’ He kind of seemed like he was talking himself up,” a police witness said. “He said … it took his body a long time to get over it [COVID]. … He said that his hearing had failed, and that was the case that night. He asked the sound guys to turn everything up louder.”
The woman continued, “He said he was ill the night before, he said he had a sore throat, he was glad he had lozenges for the stage.”
Saget, who was found dead in his hotel bed on the afternoon of January 9, told the same witness that he was “okay,” however.
“[Bob] wasn’t sweaty, he didn’t miss a beat, he didn’t stutter, his speech wasn’t drawn out, nothing slurred,” the person explained. “He came out very energetic… very entertaining for the crowd. “
Saget was COVID-positive at the time of his autopsy on Jan. 10. The actor’s official cause of death was blunt head trauma. Photos of his hotel room released Tuesday show the carpeting and padded headboard that could have killed him.
The actor is survived by his wife Kelly Rizzo and three daughters: Lara, Aubrey and Jennifer Saget.
