Sonia, found dead in a restaurant in Kirchberg on Sunday morning, was she the victim of a theft gone wrong? “I don’t think it was murder. She was a calm person, she had no enemies. She did a good job,” her fiancé told Italian news agency Ansa. Statements picked up by several media outlets in Italy, the country of origin of the 46-year-old victim and his companion. “Excited” and looking for his words, the man says he had a message exchange with his companion “in the evening” that preceded the tragedy.

“She came home late so I was already asleep. When I woke up she wasn’t there. I thought she was outside. We were expecting friends for lunch but she was killed. The police didn’t show her to me, they just said that she had been badly hit on the head,” says the man who met Sonia in Luxembourg five years ago. Speaking to Italian media, and particularly Corriere della sera, the man said the restaurant was “closed from the inside” on Sunday morning and many questions about the facts remain open, although an autopsy on the victim’s body was carried out on Tuesday.

“The victim lived in Longwy”

For its part, the Luxembourg prosecutor’s office told L’essentiel that it was “too early” to say whether the robbery was involved. “The only thing we can say is that the victim lived in Longwy.” Again, the Italian press reports that the victim traveled every day between the French border and his work.

“We lived together for five years. We should get married on May 14, confirms the fiancee. A double party was planned for the wedding, in Luxembourg and in Italy. The Molise region of southern Italy “was his whole life,” the man continues. The victim’s parents also left their Italian village for Luxembourg as soon as the tragedy became known. “He was a particularly wonderful person, that’s all. I’m looking for the words,” concludes the fiancée.
