In the Forrester design office, Steffy listens to Thomas’ side of the conversation while on the phone with Sheila. He tells her that they should meet in person… either that or the alternative. Sheila doesn’t want him to come to her hotel, so they agree to meet behind Il Giardino. Thomas hangs up and Steffy comes in. “Thomas, what’s going on?” she asks. She notes that he has been acting strange lately and has now had an intense phone conversation. Steffy begins to worry and asks him to clarify what happened. Thomas tries to scare her off, saying he’s doing his best to make sure her entire family is safe and happy. Steffy knows that he is as loyal to her family as anyone else. Thomas has to meet someone and says he will meet her later. He goes off and after a punch Steffy follows.

At her house, Brooke tells Deacon that she thought she was doing Ridge a favor by releasing him, but now she’s not sure what she was thinking. Deacon Krabben for jumping to the other team. Brooke agonizes over not wanting to lose him. Hope comes in with Liam and asks what’s going on. Deacon says her mother is having a bad day. Brooke rants that she can’t believe the predicament she’s put herself in. Having ruined their marriage, she exclaims, “What have I done?” Hope decides they need to get someone to help her, but Brooke disagrees. Deacon has learned that it’s never too late. Brooke still has to fill in the blanks and put the pieces together of what happened that night.

In her hotel room, Sheila goes over all of her confrontations with Brooke from past to present. There’s a knock on the door – it’s Finn. Sheila is surprised but pleasant. Finn wanted to check on her, stating that he wants to believe he’s no longer causing trouble.

Knowing she was visiting Steffy’s mother, Finn reminds Sheila not to just show up at her office. Sheila knows it, but they have a great relationship. Finn warns that Steffy’s family is his family now and means the world to him. Sheila replies that she is his family too. They get over the fact that Steffy still has walls when it comes to her. Sheila shares that Taylor has welcomed her, so she’s hoping things might change. Finn understands that, which is why he needs her to stay on track. Sheila beams when he calls her “Mother.” They sit down and Sheila assures her that she won’t forget her mistakes, but everything she does now is geared toward growing closer to him and her grandson. Finn has to keep them at bay to protect his family. However, if she has really improved, he will try to get Steffy to give in. Sheila smiles and swears he’ll never hear from her again that would let him down.
At Brooke’s, Deacon has left and Liam and Hope ask if his visits are increasing their anxiety. Brooke denies it, but Liam suggests that if she really wants Ridge back, she takes her time without taking Sharpe off the menu. Hope believes her husband is right. Brooke understands. She didn’t invite Deacon there – he just showed up – like he did that night. Brooke asks why she couldn’t control herself then; something sinister took over and she allowed it. She wants Ridge, but needs to find a way to explain it all to him.
In the alley behind Il Giardino, Sheila assures Thomas that she would never have tricked Brooke if she hadn’t interfered with her. She believes Taylor and Ridge should be back together, but Thomas admits he’s torn. Sheila regrets that he is under Brooke’s spell and that it is time to break it. Thomas wants what’s best for his father, but doesn’t know how much longer he can keep it under wraps.

Steffy enters Il Giardino where Deacon marvels: “Wow. Steffy Forrester … it’s been a while.” She explains that she’s looking for Thomas and asks, “Have you seen him?” Deacon hasn’t seen him, but a bartender shares that he saw him in the alley when he took out the garbage.

In the alley, Sheila warns Thomas that he must keep her secret. He replies, “Don’t you mean your secret?” She argues that it’s her secret now. Thomas reminds her that she is the one who sabotaged Brooke. “What you did was screwed up, Sheila.” She shakes her head. “You’re no saint.” Thomas doesn’t want to let his family down again. Sheila warns that that’s what will happen if he lets Brooke back into his father’s life. She sees no harm in giving his parents a new start together. Sheila goes on to say that Finn wants her to play a bigger role in his life. “After all these years, Thomas. We were kept separate!” Steffy silently sneaks up from behind a box and watches through the louvers as Sheila tells Thomas to keep the secret and be a hero. Steffy mumbles, “What the hell, Thomas? If you think I’m not going to find out what’s going on, think again.”
