Bolivia and Brazil deepen economic and cross border cooperation

“Today in Brasilia we met with the new President of #Brazil, Brother @LulaOficial, with whom we decided to deepen a comprehensive work agenda for the benefit of our peoples, covering border issues, gas, electricity, urea, investment and trade ‘ Arce wrote on his Twitter account.

For his part, Lula reported on this social network that during the approximately 45-minute meeting with the president of the Andean-Amazon nation, he evaluated how to strengthen cooperation in social policy, energy and fertilizer supply.

In statements to the state broadcaster Bolivia TV, the head of the Plurinational State said that the export of Bolivian gas and the review of contracts, the sale of urea, potassium chloride and electricity are of interest to both countries.

Regarding the latter, the Altiplano country has been coordinating with the neighboring state since 2021 the Binational Hydroelectric Inventory Studies of the Madera River and Main Tributaries project, with the aim of exploiting the energy potential of these stormwater areas.

Bolivian Foreign Ministry sources commented that both parties are finalizing agreements in the areas of agriculture, industry, border security and the development of the bi-national corridor, a route that will facilitate the quick and efficient exit of Bolivian products to the Pacific markets.

Cooperation in the field of agriculture and animal husbandry offers another promising perspective for bilateral trade relations.

“We have many common problems,” Arce told the Bolivian TV station.

During his stay in Brasilia, the President met with a representation of more than 500,000 compatriots living in that country.
