Media concentration affects democracy says Atilio Boron

Bolivia and Venezuela outline areas of concrete cooperation

“For the mixed commission that will meet in April, we have already outlined areas of work related to energy, trade, economics, aviation, immigration, and consular, social, and science and technology issues,” he told an exclusive interview with Latin Press .

Gil, in dialogue with this news outlet, claimed that in the discussions with his colleague Rogelio Mayta, they have identified sensitive, concrete areas where they already have the actors, the responsible, the companies, the institutions and are sure that they will reach this month April with promising projects to be realized in the coming years.

He rated the visit as “very positive” because he was able to directly express the interest, love and solidarity between the peoples and governments of the Plurinational State of Bolivia and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

“Presidents Luis Arce and Nicolás Maduro have not only forged a friendship, but also a solid alliance, able to present productive, economic, social and relational projects, which was analyzed during these two days of intense and successful visit”, he affirmed. .

He explained that as foreign ministers, they evaluated all these elements and expressed optimism for their contact with social movements.

Gil was asked by Prensa Latina about the recent comments made by Four-Star General Laura Richardson, head of the United States Southern Command, regarding what Cuban independence hero José Martí (1853-1895) called Our America.

Speaking to the Atlantic Council in Washington, the military chief warned that Latin America is of interest to the United States as part of its national security.

The senior Pentagon official justified Washington’s ambitions on hydrocarbons, other minerals, aquifers and Amazon biodiversity on the basis of an alleged threat to democracy in this area from Russia and China.

“But why is this region important? Because it is rich in resources and rare earths, with the so-called lithium triangle (Argentina, Bolivia, Chile), a much-needed metal for technology,” the senior official said.

In this regard, Gil argued that 200 years after the Monroe Doctrine, “the only way to defeat it is through Latin American unity.”

“We are Bolivarians, and the Liberator warned in his day and for all time that the United States seems providential to sow our America with hunger and misery in the name of liberty,” he recalled.

That is now evident, he said, as US officials at the highest levels and in the most brazen ways dare to appropriate our region’s natural resources and manpower.

He reiterated when pointing out that the only way to confront and refute these claims is to build a solidarity mechanism between “our nations” and a working mechanism of a genuine Latin American Union.

“Here we are with projects like the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States and the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of our America, projects of true integration, true union,” he affirmed.

He insisted that this “close” form of unity was the only barrier capable of countering US claims that it owned “our natural resources and our land.”

“We also have great tasks in the social movements, what the governments can do is not enough, that is also a unity of the peoples, and we saw it in the act of solidarity with the Bolivarian Revolution, which reflected a full capacity for it Forces can be structured and work on the basis of Latin American unity,” concluded the Foreign Minister.

Gil arrived in Bolivia on Thursday for an official visit to strengthen bilateral cooperative ties and on the same day he was received by President Luis Arce and met with Vice President David Choquehuanca and his counterpart Rogelio Mayta , and this Friday he reasoned signed an interparliamentary alliance of friendship with Senate leader Andrónico Rodríguez.
