Bolivia will inaugurate works in the Amazon department for its anniversary

“We held an important meeting with authorities and representatives of social organizations of the Beni department, with whom we have drawn up an important work plan to celebrate the anniversary of this beautiful country,” wrote President Luis Arce on his social networks.

He added that Bolivia was ready to celebrate “the brave Benian people as we know them, with works and industrialization.”

The department consists of eight provinces (Cercado, Vaca Diez, Iténez, José Ballivián, Marbán, Mamoré, Moxos and Yacuma) and has Trinidad as its political capital.

From a climatic point of view, its soil is suitable for all types of tropical crops such as corn, cocoa, coffee, chestnuts, vanilla, cassava or cassava, rice, passion fruit, papaya, citrus fruits, rubber and others.

According to the Ministry of Productive Development and Plural Economy, investments in the construction of industrial facilities in this area amount to around 700 million bolivianos (about 100 million dollars).

These resources are intended for the construction and equipment of factories for balanced feed and cassava starch, a meat, vegetable oil and banana flour processor as well as seasonal fruits, a fish farm and another for agricultural inputs and value addition.

On January 10, Arce laid the foundation stone of the Amazon fish factory in the municipality of San Bernardo, municipality of Rurrenabaque, with an investment of more than 87 million bolivianos (about 12 million dollars).

With the start of this important work, the national government is fulfilling its commitment to continue Beni on the path of industrialization through the implementation of a plan announced at the end of 2022.

According to the President, thanks to this complex, Rurrenabaque will not only be a tourist community, but will also have a fish farming industry that will increase this type of production, ensure the nutrition of the local population and the rest of the country, and generate direct and indirect jobs.

“The Beni and Rurrenabaque cannot be ignored in our industrialization and here is the work, today we start (…),” the president said in January, announcing that earthworks were already underway and calling on the local population , to strengthen social control over compliance with the schedule.

With Supreme Decree 4751, the National Government secured the resources to implement this complex, which will benefit more than 470 fishing and fish farming units in this region of eastern Bolivia.
