Multiple Bomb Threats: No real threat has been identified at this time
Around ten bomb threats occurred this Monday morning, primarily in schools, but also in a shopping center, a town hall and on public transport.
To ensure people’s safety, every threat is taken seriously. The various locations were evacuated and a security perimeter was established, allowing systematic elimination of doubts by the mine clearance teams of the Armed Forces in the Southern Indian Ocean Zone (FAZSOI).
No real threat has been identified at this time.
Jérôme Filippini, Prefect of Reunion Island, condemns the attitude of creating false bomb threats that could disrupt public order, while mobilizing emergency and security forces without any real need.
The Prefect of Reunion Island recalls that the perpetrators of false alarms are systematically sought and prosecuted against them.
As a reminder, Article 322-14 of the Penal Code provides that “the transmission or disclosure of false information with the aim of leading people to believe that destruction, damage or deterioration dangerous to people is or has been committed shall be punishable by a penalty. “Up to 2 years in prison and a fine of 30,000 euros.

Increased protective measures in educational institutions
During this press conference, Pierre-François Mourier, Réunion rector, also revealed the security measures taken in educational institutions.
