Bombshell resignation from the KIIS breakfast radio show as the long-time presenter announces his departure after 20 years

Brisbane radio presenter Terry Hansen has announced his surprise departure from KIIS FM’s breakfast show Robin, Terry & Kip.

Terry told listeners on Friday that he was leaving radio to focus on his career as a comedian.

“Almost exactly 20 years since I first started at KIIS 97.3, I have decided to hang up my tonsils for the last time. “I promise,” he said.

“I want to thank everyone inside and outside the studio, especially our listeners, for an incredible 20 years (with a short break)!”

Terry previously took a break from radio to travel with his brother and said it allowed his co-hosts Robin Bailey and Kip Wightman to “develop their dual acts”.

“ARN’s generous offer to let me go for a walk with my brother in Spain provided the perfect opportunity for Robin and Kip to do their thing without being interrupted by my obvious hilarity,” he continued.

“It also made me realize that there is no reason to interrupt this transition just because of a long goodbye.”

Terry revealed his plans to return to the stage and focus on his comedy.

“Anyone who knows me knows how much I love performing live, be it stand-up comedy or theater,” he said.

“I’m literally going back on stage after two decades and I already have some exciting projects in the works.”

“See you soon in the city or across the country.”
