Bono Vox last night after landing in Naples at 2.30pm wearing the Italian champion’s scarf given to him by a fanHe celebrated his 63rd birthday Dinner at the Mimì alla Ferrovia restaurant. The U2 leader was joined by his wife Alison, to whom he has been married for over 40 years, and lifelong friends, fellow Dublin-born singer-songwriter Gavin Friday and childhood pal Derek Rowen, a Guggi-born sculptor and member of the Post-punk band Virgin Prunes and the Dutch disc jockey and record producer Martin Garrix, who years ago made the remix of “We are the people” with Bono and The Edge to the anthem of the last European Football Championship.
Dinner
Bono proved to be a good fork and tasted various typical Neapolitan dishes, as the patron of the well-known restaurant shared on Instagram: buffalo mozzarella braids, ricotta with tomato jam, escarole with olives and capers, spaghetti with clams and Genoese candles. Finally, there is Babà and Pastiera.

The atmosphere that prevails in the city during the Scudetto celebrations would have involved Bono so much that he had to answer when Mimì’s employees at the railway asked him if he had any intolerances or allergies: “I’m only allergic to Juventus”. In the evening he also sang, with the owner of the venue and in the company of those present, the Neapolitan classic “Torna a Surriento”, composed by Ernesto De Curtis in 1894 from texts by his brother Giambattista and which he will perform live on the stage of the theater the day after tomorrow as well as San Carlo , during his musical reading “Stories of Surrender,” a show produced by Live Nation and directed by Willie Williams. During the show, Bono will reinterpret nearly twenty U2 songs live and interpret them in an acoustic key. Yesterday was an evening of relaxation and fun that lasted a few hours until the Irish artist and his entourage returned to a large hotel on the city’s seafront. Today, after yesterday afternoon, his staff will carry out a renewed inspection at the Teatro San Carlo with a view to Saturday’s event.
