Borderlands Movie Trailer Reveals Jack Black's Claptrap, Guardians of the Galaxy Vibes and More | IGN Fan Fest 2024

Following yesterday's teaser, we now have the full debut trailer for the Borderlands film and it gives us a good look at what to expect.

The trailer below shows Cate Blanchett's Lilith, Kevin Hart's Roland, Jack Black's Claptrap, Ariana Greenblatt's Tiny Tina, Jamie Lee Curtis' Tannis and Florian Munteanu's Krieg keep cracking heads.

We also see Edgar Ramírez as Deukalian Atlas, the founder and CEO of Atlas Corporation. This is the first time we hear Jack Black's voice as Claptrap, which perhaps unsurprisingly sounds like a digitized version of Jack Black's voice.

The Eli Roth-directed Borderlands film is, of course, based on the video game series developed by Gearbox (in an interview with IGN, Gearbox founder Randy Pitchford teased Borderlands 4!).

In the trailer, we see the group battling alien monsters and Borderlands' famous bandits while searching for and protecting a missing girl. Poor Claptrap finds time for an impromptu bathroom break that everyone else on the team seems fascinated by.

IGN has plenty of Borderlands coverage to whet your appetite for the film, including an exclusive trailer breakdown with Randy Pitchford, who discusses the obvious comparisons to the Marvel film Guardians of the Galaxy. Borderlands will be released in the US and UK on August 9, 2024.
