Not all requests that the Turkey did to Sweden in exchange for lifting the veto on Stockholm’s NATO entry, they can be accepted by the Scandinavian country. Requests not accepted
The Swedish prime minister’s words come after Sweden refused to extradite the Turkish journalist in mid-December Bulent Kenes, whom Ankara accuses of involvement in the failed 2016 coup attempt against Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The Swedish Supreme Court ruled on the case and declared extradition impossible because Turkey’s allegations against Keneş are not considered a crime in Sweden. Also pointing to the political nature of the case, the court refused to extradite the asylum seeker. Last October, Erdogan reiterated that Ankara’s ratification of the accession treaties would remain at risk if Sweden did not accept the applications.
