This Sunday, December 25, the route RD48 de Salazie near L’Evêque was completely closed to traffic shortly after midnight after a landslide. The road has been reopened to traffic since 5:54 p.m. with traffic lights. An inspection of the cliff was carried out this morning, followed by clean-up operations in the afternoon.

This Sunday, December 25, around midnight, a landslide occurred on the RD48 Route de Salazie at a place called l’Evêque. The road had to be completely closed to traffic in this area for the time being.
At 5:54 p.m., the road was reopened to one-lane traffic onlywith the installation of traffic lights.

This total shutdown began just after midnight and lasted until the end of the day. There was a huge traffic jam in the area.

This closure has also aroused the anger and despair of many motorists who had to patiently endure their toils this Christmas Day.

A helicopter inspection of the cliff was conducted around 9am this Sunday morning. The latter revealed an unstable region. Clean-up work was carried out in the afternoon until closing time.
